Steps Towards Sustainable Urban Transport: Conclusions of the VIII International Conference

The 8th International Scientific and Practical Conference "Urban Transport Logistics: Issues and Solutions," organized with the support of the Mayor's Office of Bishkek, took place on April 29, 2024, at the International School of Logistics of the Kyrgyz State Technical University named after Iskhak Razzakov. This event was dedicated to the 70th anniversary of the university. The conference was opened by the rector of the university, Mirlan Koichubekovich Chynybaev. The event was attended by representatives of the Bishkek Mayor's Office, the Ministry of Transport and Communications of the Kyrgyz Republic, as well as specialists and experts from various fields to discuss current issues related to urban transportation organization.

During the conference, conceptual approaches to the development of urban transport, measures to optimize the urban route network, sustainable development of transport hubs in urban planning, the concept of smart urban transport, infrastructure issues, public transport efficiency, traffic management, environmental aspects, and new technologies in urban transport logistics were discussed, including cable cars, metros, and monorails.

Students presented their research on the characteristics and drawbacks of each type of transport, their impact on urban infrastructure, ecology, and the comfort of city dwellers. Representatives of the mayor's office participated in discussions, expressing their views on the management and development of transport logistics in Bishkek.

At the plenary session, Dr. Anvar Nazarov from the Tashkent State University of Railway Engineering (TSURE) delivered a report on "Ways to Reduce Traffic Jams on Urban Road Networks."

The conference organization was actively supported by members of the Logistics Club. The best student research was recognized with diplomas and cash prizes: the 1st-degree diploma was awarded to Abduraimova A., Mugalbekova S., Bondarenko P. (10,000 soms) for the development of an application for tracking parking spaces. The 2nd-degree diploma was received by Akylbekova A., Orozbekov T., and the 3rd-degree diploma by Namazalieva A., Akylbekova A., Nabiev I. Incentive diplomas were awarded to Tologonov A., Bashkeev U., Pusurmankulov A., Guliev E., Zhakshylykova D., Zusumambetova A., Kostrubov D., Duishenaliev U.
