The World Bank team Quamrul Hasan, Head of Procurement Group in Central Asia and Europe and Irina Goncharova Senior Procurement Specialist on a planned mission to the Kyrgyz Republic visited the Kyrgyz State Technical University on November 2, 2022. Quamrul Hasan gave a lecture to bachelors, masters and doctoral students of the International School of Logistics: "The Importance of Analytical Data Processing in Procurement Decision Making."

In his speech, he said that public procurement can contribute to several goals: economy, integrity, economic growth, inclusiveness and sustainability. In order to achieve these objectives through public procurement, appropriate policies and strategies need to be identified. PDA is the use of data to generate actionable insights to design or modify procurement policies and strategies to influence development outcomes. It can be used for evidence-based decision-making and for informing reforms. The lecture aroused keen interest and heated discussion among the audience. After the lecture, the World Bank team expressed gratitude to all students for relevant and useful publications on public procurement issues on the observatory website and presented valuable gifts to the best students. The second half of the meeting was attended by teachers, experts, consultants in the field of public procurement and discussed the development of courses on the organization of procurement based on the principles of social and environmental sustainability and "green" principles.
